RUlES & REGULATIONS 2019
Davenport Kartway will follow NKA rules for 2019, unless otherwise noted differently in the below information. Please be sure to know the NKA rules which are available online for free at www.nkaonline.com/rules
-Due to insurance requirements, all drivers and crew members must have a pit pass anywhere in the pit area during practice or race days. Anyone caught without a pit pass will be asked to leave immediately. Pit passes are $10.00 per person for anyone over the age of 5. Kids 5 and under are free but MUST be signed in and have a pit pass
-All MINORS must have MINOR RELEASE on file(form available at the track) and signed by Parent/Legal Guardian before they can be allowed to practice or race. NO EXCEPTIONS!
-Alcohol is strictly prohibited by anyone in the pit area during the races. Anyone caught drinking alcohol will result in loss of points, suspension of races, and be asked to leave immediately
-No engines to be started before 9:45am out of respect for the neighbors
-You are required to keep your pit area clean and dispose of waste properly. Do not leave your old tires in pit area
-Racing karts only, no yard or fun karts allowed, Davenport Kartway reserves the right to deny track admission to any kart not meeting requirements
-All karts must pass a safety inspection and display a valid 2019 sticker prior to entering the track
-Absolutely no driving karts allowed in the pits
-Spec tires will be MANDATORY for all classes whether the driver is running for points or not
-Spec tires are not required on practice days, however, absolutely no "soft" tires allowed on the track at any time. Ask if you are unsure if your tires are allowed for practice
-Tire warmers and tire prep are strictly prohibited. if tires are found to be outside of the durometer window or do not pass the "sniffer", those tires will be marked illegal and may be cause for driver suspension. Competitors found prepping tires will receive a minimum 1 year ban from competition. Tire scraping is legal
-Point races will be run only in dry track conditions. In the event of a rain out after all heat races are completed, completed races will be scored normally, incomplete races will be scored by passing points
-An auxiliary carburetor return spring will be MANDATORY for all two cycle engines. This rule does not apply to karts using a slide carb with an internal compression type return spring
-Airboxes MANDATORY for all two cycle engines
-RLV exhaust mufflers MANDATORY for all four cycle engines
-As stated in NKA rulebook, Snell/SFI 2010 or better helmet, abrasion resistant jacket or suit, neck collar, gloves, closed toe shoes are MANDATORY at all times
-Junior drivers ages 5-13 must use an SFI approved chest protector at all times while on track
-Full width rear bumpers are required
-All brakes and steering bolts/nuts must be cotter keyed
-all lead weights shall be no larger than 7 pounds per piece of weight. All lead weights must be painted white and cotter keyed or double nutted. All weights bolted to the seat must have a minimum 1-1/2" washer behind the head of the bolt to prevent the bolt from pulling through the seat. no weight to be mounted below the frame rails
-All karts must have numbers on all four corners. it is recommended to have black numbers over white or yellow number panels. Numbers should be a minimum of 5" tall. Davenport Kartway will not score any karts without legible numbers!
-Numbers are chosen in order of registration. Reserving a number is included in track membership. No duplicate numbers in a class allowed
-All drivers must attend the MANDATORY drivers meeting prior to each race. Parent/Legal Guardian must attend with drivers under 12 years of age. Crew members are encouraged to attend
-Video cameras are allowed but must be mounted to the chassis or the bodywork using bolts and securely in place. Cameras can not be attached to the driver or the helmet
-Davenport Kartway will not use onboard video or photos to decide any protests
-Drivers will at all times be responsible for their conduct and the conduct of their crew. Unsportsmanlike conduct from drivers or crew members will not be tolerated and could be grounds for disqualification
-Drivers are expected to compete with a high standard and to avoid unnecessary contact with other drivers. Unsafe or unsportsmanlike conduct, intentional contact, aggressive driving, blocking, chopping, etc. is prohibited and could be grounds for disqualification. The black flag may be used to warn a driver of an infraction or remove a driver from competition. A rolled black flag may be directed towards a driver indicating that an infraction may have occurred and the driver is receiving a warning. If the driver receives a waived black flag, they may have committed one or more on track infractions and need to exit the race course
-Track Championship awards will be determined by the points accumulated in the Spring, summer, and fall series. championship points will be awarded each series. Classes must run at least half of the points races be considered for year end awards.
Davenport Kartway Yamaha and kid kart classes:
Davenport Kartway will follow 2019 WKA engine tech rules
mg "hz/hzi" red tires will be spec for all Yamaha and kid kart classed
An auxiliary carburetor return spring will be MANDATORY for all Yamaha engines. This rule does not apply to kid karts using a slide carb with an internal compression type return spring
Davenport Kartway Briggs LO206 classes:
Davenport Kartway will follow 2019 Factory Briggs 206 engine tech rules. Shoe type clutches only, no disc clutches allowed. All 206 engines must run spec RLV header with RLV 4104 muffler. All headers must have a protective insulating wrap. Cadet class 206 must use green slide with locking cap, Junior class 206 must use gold slide with locking cap. All karts must be equipped with overflow catch tanks. CIK bodywork, traditional 4 cycle "full bodied" bodywork, or a mix of the two will be allowed. the spec mg "hz/hzi" red or hoosier "r60b" tire is drivers option but must have the same tire on all 4 corners. Max overall kart width in Cadet is 50", max overall kart width in Junior/Senior is 55-1/8". Spec fuel, 91 octane non ethanol from kwik star across the street from fairgrounds.
